Australia accidentally introduced the Redback spider to Japan in the 1990s through shipping containers full of wood pulp. The famous Australian country song “Redback on the Toilet Seat” by Slim Newtown was translated and performed by a friend into Japanese. A Japanese bidet ‘noise maker’ was hacked to play the cover when activated. This work was made whilst undertaking a residency at Studio Kura in Itoshima, Japan.
