Warm and fuzzy was installed at the end of summer 2026, the warmest on record for Western Europe. The flag displays 20 years of temperature fluctuations in the German state of Saxony, since GEH8 opened in 2007. Warming stripes were conceived by climate scientist Ed Hawkins to convey long-term global warming trends to the general public. Their aesthetic was influenced by his interest in Colour Field painting and Minimalism. Reinterpreted as a flag, the cropped data exists somewhere between a trending colour palette and a terrifying outlook for the future.
